Drury is a family-owned Midwestern chain that most coastal travelers have never heard of and most Midwestern travelers refuse to book around. The reason is food. Every Drury property gives you a free hot breakfast and then a free hot dinner with alcohol included, every single night, and the ten-story brick tower at 9445 East Dry Creek Road is the one that serves Centennial Airport. It's 1.7 miles from the field, about nine minutes from the FBOs.

The Free Food Is the Entire Argument

The 5:30 Kickback runs from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. daily. It's a rotating menu of actual hot food — not a cheese cube tray — along with beer, wine, mixed drinks, and soft drinks, with three complimentary alcoholic drinks per adult. Breakfast the next morning is a full buffet with scrambled eggs, sausage, Belgian waffles, biscuits and gravy, fruit, bagels, and pastries.

Price that out against per diem. Two meals a day plus drinks for a crew of two, over a five-night stay, is a couple of hundred dollars that never leaves anybody's pocket. For operators reimbursing meals, this is the property that quietly costs the least even when the room rate isn't the lowest on the list.

Ten Floors of Brick Off Dry Creek Road

Roughly 160 rooms across a ten-story tower, split between standard guestrooms and two-room suites with a separate bedroom and living area. Upper floors on the west side get front range views, which is a small pleasure worth requesting. The building is straightforward business-hotel stock, well maintained rather than fashionable, and the 4.5 average over nearly 1,400 reviews reflects a chain that is unusually consistent about the things it promises.

Take the two-room suite if you're here more than two nights. The separate living area with its own television is what makes a crew of two sharing a room tolerable rather than tense, and it costs less than the equivalent layout at any of the Hilton or Marriott properties nearby. A tenth of a mile away, Comfort Suites offers a similar footprint at a lower base rate but without the food, which is the trade you're actually deciding between in this part of the corridor.

Two Pools, One of Them Useful in February

Year-round indoor pool and a seasonal outdoor pool, plus a fitness center. Free parking, free wifi, no resort fee, no parking fee. Drury does not nickel-and-dime, which is a genuine differentiator in a market where the same room elsewhere quietly gains twenty dollars of add-ons at checkout.

Hangar Talk

The Kickback is not a crew meal replacement if you're flying the next morning. Three free drinks and an eight-hour bottle-to-throttle rule interact badly with a 0630 departure, and the reception ends at 7:00 p.m. sharp. If you're on duty in the morning, eat the food, skip the bar, and take the popcorn. If you're on a hard down day waiting on a part, this is the best evening in the corridor for the money.

The Cost Is Distance

At 1.7 miles it's the farthest property on this list from KAPA, and the route runs through the busiest part of the Tech Center. Nine minutes off-peak becomes fifteen or more at 0800 or 1700. For a tight turn where the airplane is fueled and you're back in the seat before lunch, that's a bad trade against the Four Points sitting half a mile off the field.

For everything else — a two- or three-night stop, a crew waiting on weather, a maintenance visit with evenings to fill — the food alone justifies the extra six minutes of driving.

10/10!! One word: Hospitality! I felt like I was at a family gathering. The staff, other guests that were staying there, and atmosphere was so warm and friendly. Great if you’re a family looking for a nice hotel to stay at! Nostalgic old school type of feeling for sure like the good old days. 💙 Our room was comfortable and clean and had a microwave and refrigerator to heat and keep drinks cold. The food was delic...

Absolutely amazing hotel!! It had been a long day and they made my stay so welcoming and the front desk women were absolutely wonderful!! I have a gluten-allergy and they helped me look up the contents of the evening happy hour food so I could make sure I had safe food. Overall, one of the best hotels I've stayed in. Will definitely stay again.

Frequently Asked

What is the 5:30 Kickback?
It's Drury's free evening reception, running 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. every day. You get a rotating menu of hot food plus beer, wine, mixed drinks, and soft drinks, with three complimentary alcoholic drinks per adult. Combined with the free hot breakfast, it covers two meals a day at no charge.
How far is the Drury Inn from Centennial Airport?
About 1.7 miles in a straight line, which makes it the farthest of the close-in hotels. Budget nine minutes off-peak and fifteen or more during Tech Center rush hours, since the route runs through the busiest part of the corridor.
Does breakfast work for an early departure?
Not for a pre-dawn show time. The buffet opens at 6:00 a.m. on weekdays and 7:00 a.m. on weekends, so anything earlier means eating at the FBO. Free popcorn and soda are available from 3:00 to 10:00 p.m. if you land late and the kitchen options nearby are closed.
