Roxborough State Park tilts red sandstone fins out of the foothills like a quieter Garden of the Gods, threaded with loop trails and almost aggressively photogenic. No dogs, no bikes: just the rocks.

What Reviewers Keep Saying

“Such a beautiful place! We took the easiest hiking trail in the middle. We saw deer, turkeys, and snake, and a bunny. Also lots of beautiful wild flowers and plants along with the amazing rock formations.”

Lovely state park with easy hikes that are highly kid-friendly. The park itself is beautiful, the rock formations are dramatic, and the color of the rock itself is beautifully unique. Ten dollars per car to enter, but otherwise free to hang out and hike as long as you want. An easy and fun family adventure!

There’s plenty of parking and self-pay entry fees if you do not already have a state pass. The park is open at 7 AM and closes at 8 PM. Be sure to take plenty of water and beyond the lookout for wildlife. The deer will walk the tr...
